YLSBCMUN 2026 - May 23rd
| Executive Plaza Hotel |
Dear Prospective Delegates,
Once again, it is time for our annual iteration of YLSBC MUN. We have all grown one year older, one year smarter, one year wiser, and one year closer to leaving high school. For some of us, this will be the last time we take part in a conference like this, and that is precisely what makes this year’s iteration of YLSBCMUN so special.
YLSBCMUN may not be a flashy overnight conference or one with a sea of attendees, but that has never been our goal. What we have always prioritized is giving delegates the stepping stone they need — the confidence and knowledge to pursue even more competitive endeavours. Some people are naturally gifted and can thrive at a large-scale conference right from the start, but for most of us, myself included, starting small made all the difference. The YLSBC Secretariat understands this firsthand; many of our members have walked the same journey through high school, and remember what it felt like to deliver that very first speech in front of a crowd. We are here to support you every step of the way.
This year, delegates will take direct control of the decisions needed to foster peace and, more importantly, global stability. Our committees reflect this ambition. SOCHUM will tackle the pressing issues surrounding minority violence within the arena of the world society, while our new Disney Crisis Committee invites delegates into an entirely different realm of debate — one that operates outside the traditional UN structure and challenges them to think and act dynamically, making decisions on the fly.
We, along with the Board of Directors, wholeheartedly encourage every delegate to step outside their comfort zone this iteration. That might look like speaking up, refining your writing, collaborating with others, or diving deep into research, but whatever form it takes, take it early. Four years of high school go by faster than you think, and we hope that when the time comes to apply to post-secondary or pursue your next great opportunity, you will have a rich arsenal of experiences to draw from.
If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out at jinyu-secgenylsbcmun@ylsbc.org. I look forward to seeing you this May!
Fear is a reaction. Courage is a decision.
